dictionary: (despair!)

1. How about a brief introduction?

Sorry to say that I’m not actually the goddamn Batman. Anyway, I’m Tara, fourteen years old, and I live in New Joysey. I like long walks on the beach and being emo.

2. What got you into fanfiction (and/or adopting muses)?

Honestly? I was writing fanfiction before I knew what it was even called. It came out of a desire to see something I liked continue, or to change the way an event had panned out. That, or I just happened to find a particular character hot and decided to pair my painfully horrible Mary Sues with them. I eventually grew out of this phase, thank God, when I was about twelve.

3. What kind of fanfiction do you write?

All kinds, except for slash. I have nothing against it, it’s just not my cup of tea, I’m afraid. I used to be skilled at comedy, but with my entrance into adolescence, that ability has disintegrated and made me turn into an angst machine. For the most part, I write het, with gen following close behind with the occasional femslash.

4. Do you write for the same pairings/characters?

Huh…yes and no. Sometimes I’ll have brief kicks for a certain pairing and write a lot for them, but just as quickly I’ll find another pairing to fangirl. In the big picture, I pretty much write for a massive variety of pairings and characters.

5. What is your most popular fic and why do you think people like it so?

None of my fics are popular, so.

6. Forget other people, what is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?

None, actually. I’m pretty much apathetic to all the stories I’ve written after they’re out of my head.

7. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What aspects do you struggle with?

Okay, I’ll be honest here and say that I’m writing bipolar in that sometimes it’s extremely easy and I’m just a well of creativity, whereas there are periods where I can’t come up with a good idea worth a damn. I think the aspects I struggle the most with are keeping the characters IC. I tend to write the quiet badass characters a lot, and that makes it incredibly difficult to capture them correctly, resulting in my renowned failure.

8. Write a few sentences of your favorite pairing or character.

Alright, you’re getting ‘about’ them in of’s place. My favorite pairing of all time is Lawrence/Holo, tied with ShikaIno from Naruto. I’ll describe the former, as I’m not active in the latter’s fandom.

I love Lawrence/Holo because not only is it basically canon (I hate using that term so loosely, but god damn it’s true), their dynamics are amazing. The teasing, the tension, and staples of a couple-to-be are present, but they’re also a kickass team. They can beat their way out of the toughest of situations together, and they place a tremendous amount of faith in one other. Their personalities just meld together so well, and no matter what happens, they’ll be by each other’s side. This said, it makes me curious to see what will happen when they finally get to Yoitsu.

9. Are there any fan fiction trends/cliches you hate?

I don’t read much fanfiction anymore, but I’m pretty cool with most things except m-preg. Oh my god, I hate it. HATE IT. I don’t read it though, since I go by the ‘don’t like, don’t read’ rule.

10. Are you guilty of any of the trends you hate?

Nope.

11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still write for it?

My first fandom was, admittedly, Sonic The Hedgehog. Even at a young age (ten), I was pretty hooked on the bad boy/good girl idea, indicated by my massive love for Shadow/Amy. *sigh* Good memories…needless to say, I don’t write for it anymore. It just makes me a little sad that people who were in that fandom are regarded as furries, when the vast majority of them aren’t.

12. Name your OTPs and explain what it is about them you love to write.

-Matt Engarde/Maya Fey. Don’t get me started, but they give me an opportunity to exude as much angst or crack as I want and still make it believable, if that makes any sense. Plus, insane, paranoid guy/optimistic, silly girl? Do want, yes please.

-Victor Niguel/Linda Reid. I think they have the potential to be very heartbreaking or happy, depending on the circumstances. They can even be both. Linda could bring Victor out of his shell a little because she’s so down to earth and realistic (albeit slightly pessimistic, as he is), and Victor could help make Linda a better person with more confidence in herself…? At this point, you probably wouldn’t understand unless you could peer into my mind. Orz

-Lawrence/Holo. See the above…thingy.

-Shinjiro Aragaki/Yukari Takeba. Don’t even ask, I’m not going to write for them for multiple reasons, but I will say that it’s not like I sat down and thought this pairing up when I was bored.[info]commodoreschick’s fics converted me SO HARD. Seriously, they induce tears of awesome because from what I’ve seen of the Persona fandom it’s hard to find an IC Shinjiro, but my god this girl DOES IT RIGHT.

13. What would you call your writing style?

Short and sweet, lacking on details but heavy on emotion. It’s something I need to work on, but thus far it’s worked for me and people have told me it was pretty cool.

14. Do you read other people’s fanfiction? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?

I don’t read other fic unless it’s for a pairing I like. I am the most godawful shallow person ever to exist, but it’s true, because I don’t really like reading fic in the first place. I don’t mean to come off as elitist, but…/kills self.

15. Name one thing you’d love to write but have been too afraid or too shy to do.

I’ll be honest…I’ve always wanted to write a death scene. But I never could for many reasons, the first being because I hate them in canon and fanfic. Seriously, it tears at my heartstrings to see a character I loved and was attached to die (coughSHINJIROcoughMINATOcoughSATOKOcoughRIKAcough). Also, I believe that death is fragile and can’t be tossed around just to induce a brief interlude of angst from a certain character. It needs to have a serious effect, but it can’t go on for so long. The grieving process is different for everybody, but it’s just not healthy to dwell on it for years on end. Still, I’d like to pull off a well-written death scene at least once in my writing career.

16. When you write, is there anything that helps?

It sounds weird, but being under the cover—and I mean like completely underneath the sheets—and having the light out works wonders for me. I don’t know why, and it’s become distressing to me now that my parents have found out about my 2:00 AM antics. D:

17. What inspires you.

Holy hell, everything. I can’t elaborate on everything because I pretty much mean everything in existence. Music, people, my experiences, that days old coffee cup sitting on my bedside table, the fact that I have a Latin essay due in a couple days, my senile religion teacher…everything inspires me.

18. You just lost the game!

Fuck.

Feel free to yoink if you want.

RULES: Give me a pairing or a character and a theme and I will write one line something REALLY short and probably pointless for you. Stick to what you know I know, please!

You just ignore that title, now.

But FUCK YEAH DEBATES, it's the last one before the big day comes up. Ignore the fact that I'm not watching them because I'm kind of sick of all the bulldog fighting coming from the GOP.

BUUUT in any case I'm writing Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei fanfiction. What the everloving fuck is wrong with me?

Also, MEME TIEMS. AGAIN.

I come bearing fanfic news! But first I'm going to say that I'm never going to clubs or parties when I'm older if all they do is smoke and drink. D: Sorry, but my cousin managed to drag me to a club the other day and I got really bored really fast when nobody spoke English and all they did was act like idiots. Very entertaining. Note the sarcasm. Fanfic news taim! 8D

You've really outdone yourself this time, BiO. You have assumed that you have every right to write fanfic for a game you haven't played and what's worse for a pairing that close to NOBODY supports. Why, WHY can't you be normal? Is it really that difficult? Being a chapterfic and all you do know that it's going to be an angst fest. Hell, any story with Edgeworth is an angstfest. D8

If anybody wants to read it you can find the first chapter here:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4388030/1/Always_Unconvinced

I intend to change the lame summary with the coming of chapter two.
The quote is from the song "My Name Is Jonas" by Weezer. Why did I choose this particular quote? If it wasn't obvious enough, I'll break it down for you.

"Things were better then,
Once but never again"

Okay, so some of my own personal prejudice comes in here in that I think the first three games were way better than Apollo Justice (thank you Youtube for allowing me to make my own judgments). That and since Maya and Edgeworth kind of lost the spotlight they're probably thinking the same thing. Things won't be the same anymore between them and Phoenix.

"We've all left the den,
Let me tell you all 'bout it."

Slighty more cryptic in meaning. Edgeworth is kind of going 'lolwut' at everything that's happened, and since everybody changed they've all left the metaphoric 'den.' The last line sort of speaks for itself if you've read the chapter.

...I suddenly feel very pompous and arrogant for making an entry explaining something that shouldn't be explained. In my own FANFIC, for God's sake. Reprimand me as you please, God.

So I'm in Cyprus at the moment. I actually learned how to spell it correctly. I've mostly been going to the beach and reading and writing, although I think I'm going to start writing fanfiction again. I'm not really getting anywhere with my original story, and I'm sick of starting over and over again. You know, on an unrelated note, I think I'm more familiar with Phoenix Wright's canon than people who have actually played the games. When I get a new DS, I'm going to hunt them down because my Target/Walmart is gay and don't carry them anymore. I couldn't find Apollo Justice in the regular cases and they didn't even have any of the old games in the discount section! WTF! Are they really that (un)popular where I live?

Speaking of which, am I the only EdgeworthxMaya fan in the universe? That's a bit of an exaggeration, as I've seen very, VERY small amounts of fic and fanart for them. But I feel like a freak because everybody supports either PhoenixMaya (which I also love, just not as much) or PhoenixEdgeworth exclusively. Think outside the box, people! For the sake of fanfiction! ;_; Even if you don't support it, force yourself to. (of course, I'm just kidding)

So that's pretty much it for what's going on right now.
I've yet to know what a bicycle in fandom terms is, but I think it means the person you ship everybody and their mother with. Correct me if I'm wrong. O_o

New Anime!

dictionary: (Default)
Since I updated, I started a handful of new anime. Elfen Lied, Spice and Wolf, and Kanon 2006 to be exact. Here's the list of anime I've been watching:

Lucky Star (11/24)
Eyeshield 21 (14/145)
Rosario+Vampire (10/13)
To Love-Ru (9/18)
Note: This is put on hold because I can't find any episodes beyond nine. If you know of where I can watch the rest, please enlighten me!
Kanon (4/24)
Spice and Wolf (2/13)

So, excluding To Love-Ru, I'm watching five anime, and my To Watch list is slowly starting to pile up, even though I'm pretty much flying through these series. It's just plain sad when it gets to the point that I don't want to do my homework because of it. I've actually stayed up until two in the morning just to watch anime. I guess my favorite right now would have to be Spice and Wolf. I heard so much about it, and decided to give it a shot. I love Holo, but Lawrence isn't so bad either.

I've noticed that I have a tendency for worshiping the girls of anime, whereas most girls my age and up love the guys. I mean, this isn't to say that I don't find the guys appealing, because I do, but I love girls so much better. Maybe it's because they tend to be more well-rounded than the males, which I find ironic because I usually watch anime that originated from the minds of males.

In any case, I've put all fanfiction ON HOLD until I come back from summer break, which will be August 6th. There's multiple reasons for my doing this, and one of them is that I need time to regenerate my creativity. I posted a lot of material in a short amount of time, and I'm still reeling from the trauma. [/lame attempt at drama]
